A legacy of loving, personalized care.
Since 1968, Blossom Hill has been a trusted name in Northeast Ohio for compassionate, family-style care for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. What began as a single home serving a small group of individuals has grown into a vibrant network of residential homes, respite care programs, supported living services, and now, our latest milestone — the Abilities Enrichment Center (AEC) in Middleburg Heights.
Our mission has never changed: to enhance the daily lives of individuals with disabilities and their families through loving, personalized care. For more than five decades, we’ve stood beside families through every stage of life — providing stability, comfort, and a sense of belonging.

Expanding our mission beyond the front door.
For years, Blossom Hill’s core strength was in long-term residential care — creating homes that feel like family for those with profound disabilities. Over time, we recognized a growing need in the community: a place where individuals could spend their day engaging in meaningful activities, socializing with peers, and experiencing the world around them, regardless of where they live.
In response, we built the Abilities Enrichment Center, a one-of-a-kind day program designed to help adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities live fuller, more connected lives. The center represents a bold new chapter in Blossom Hill’s story — one that extends our mission beyond our front door and into the broader community.
Why we built the Abilities Enrichment Center.
The creation of AEC was a major step forward — and a complete shift in direction for our organization. We saw families searching for enrichment opportunities for loved ones who weren’t in residential care, and we knew we could help.
At AEC, every day is guided by choice, independence, and joy. Participants design their day based on their personal goals — whether that’s spending time in the community, exploring the sensory room, or relaxing with friends in a supportive environment. This wasn’t easy to achieve. Building a program from the ground up required creativity, collaboration, and a leap of faith. But as with everything Blossom Hill undertakes, we led with love — and our team made it happen.
What we’re most proud of.
Now that we’ve built this wonderful center, allow us to reflect on the remarkable accomplishments that brought us here.
In just one year, Blossom Hill welcomed 30 new team members dedicated to delivering exceptional, person-centered care. Every one of them brings patience, creativity, and joy to their work — helping participants live their best possible day, every day. Their enthusiasm and commitment are the heartbeat of AEC. It’s not just about what we do; it’s about how we do it — with love and laughter leading the way.
And perhaps most inspiring is how the entire Blossom Hill family rallied together to make AEC possible. From long-time caregivers to new hires, every person played a part in transforming an idea into a living, breathing program.
There were challenges, of course. But through teamwork, dedication, and shared purpose, we created something extraordinary — all without compromising the high standard of care that has defined Blossom Hill for more than 50 years.
Continuing the Journey
As we look ahead, our focus remains on growth, inclusion, and innovation. Whether through residential living, respite care, supported living, or the Abilities Enrichment Center, Blossom Hill continues to evolve — guided by compassion and strengthened by community.
We are proud of our past, inspired by our present, and excited for what’s next. Because at Blossom Hill, love isn’t just what we do — it’s who we are.
